what is advaita?

The heart of Advaita, in very basic terms, is the concept of non-duality, meaning "not two". 

We are made up of a physical body, emotional body, mental body and spiritual body.  Nurturing all of these bodies will allow us to attain and maintain optimum well-being.

Reiki is a Japanese word that translates to Universal Energy.  Everything is made up of energy and working directly with energy influences our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.   Reiki is a hands-on healing technique that uses this Universal Energy to balance the energies within all four bodies.  This Universal Energy is channeled through the Reiki practitioner and transferred to the recipient through the palms of the Reiki practitioner.  When we work regularly with Reiki and balance the energy of our four bodies, optimum well-being can be achieved. Reiki forms the core for all therapies I practice.

my journey ... so far

I was first exposed to the world of alternative therapy while I was house-sitting the home of an Alexander Technique practitioner.  This therapy itself did not resonate with me but the concept of alternative medicine did.

The first course I enrolled for was a two year, ITEC accredited Aromatherapy Swedish Massage course.  During the course I learned the names of all the muscles in the body and the uses and benefits of forty essential oils, and finally, the practical exam done under the eyes of a very strict UK examiner.  It was not what I expected alternative medicine to be but it definitely gave me the foundation that I needed.  

Along the way I was introduced to Reiki and that's where my true journey began.  It was the gateway I was looking for and I am very fortunate to have been guided by a teacher who taught with such passion for Reiki.  Reiki has opened me up to so many things.  For me, it was so much more than just hand positions and technical terms - it was also the seed to my spiritual development.  It was after my Reiki training and my quest to overcome infertility that I started investigating other alternative healing modalities.  I have seen first-hand the benefits of working with the metaphysical causes of dis-ease in a body - I did fall pregnant and I also avoided surgery for a disc herniation which had me bedridden for weeks.  

I am on an incredible journey and continue to be amazed by the power of alternative healing.  I am honoured and humbled to be a Reiki Master continuing the Usui Reiki lineage and to be able to share this remarkable energy and the sacredness of this ancient hands-on healing technique with my clients and students.
